Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Presova handles information when you use the app.

About Presova

Presova helps you recognize groceries, organize a local Pantry, and estimate when food may expire.

Information processed on your device

Presova stores Pantry items, expiration dates, receipt text, preferences, onboarding progress, notification history, and widget data on your device so the app can work. Receipt images created by Presova are deleted after a successful import. Saved raw receipt text older than 90 days is removed the next time Presova performs storage maintenance.

Cloud synchronization

Firebase may assign an anonymous identity automatically so Presova can use protected backend functionality. Pantry data remains local while you use only that anonymous identity. After you link or sign in to an email, Apple, or Google account, supported devices signed in to that account can synchronize and restore Pantry items and selected settings, including streak, notification, learning-consent, personalization, and onboarding state. Raw receipt text, receipt images, parser diagnostics, and local image paths are excluded from the current cloud Pantry format.

Receipt scanning and food recognition

When you scan or upload a receipt, Presova uses Apple or Google text-recognition technology available for the platform to read receipt content. When additional help is required, limited receipt-derived food labels and context may be sent through Presova’s Firebase backend to OpenAI for recognition and normalization. Presova does not intentionally send receipt image files to OpenAI. Review results before saving them.

Voice Add and AI Pantry actions

When you use Voice Add, your device’s speech-recognition service processes your voice input. The resulting transcript may be sent through Presova’s Firebase backend to OpenAI to identify groceries or interpret a requested Pantry action. Presova does not intentionally send raw microphone audio to OpenAI. AI results can be incomplete or incorrect and should be reviewed.

Accounts

Firebase Authentication processes anonymous identifiers and the information needed for an account you choose to link, such as an email address or Apple or Google sign-in identifier. Logging out does not delete your account or synchronized data. You can permanently delete a linked account, or the anonymous cloud identity and associated data Presova created, from Settings.

Optional learning

Help Improve Presova is optional and off until you enable it. When enabled, limited and filtered food labels, corrections, recognition outcomes, confidence signals, and technical processing versions may be sent to improve recognition and expiration estimates. Turning learning off stops future capture and pending uploads, but does not automatically delete material already submitted. Source learning records are retained for up to 365 days and de-identified aggregate learning records for up to 730 days. Account deletion removes records still linked to your account; de-identified aggregates may remain.

Analytics and diagnostics

Presova uses Firebase Analytics, Performance Monitoring, and Crashlytics to understand reliability and feature usage. These services may process app and device details, feature events, performance measurements, errors and stack traces, processing stage, store classification, and pseudonymous receipt or processing identifiers. Provider-controlled backup and diagnostic retention may continue temporarily after deletion.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, Presova schedules expiration reminders. You can disable reminders in Presova Settings or device settings.

Feedback and data minimization

Feedback you submit may include your message, app and build information, current screen, processing stage, and diagnostics you choose to include. Feedback is retained for up to 180 days. Presova filters learning and diagnostic uploads and is designed not to include payment-card information, receipt images, full raw receipt text, phone numbers, loyalty IDs, authentication tokens, App Check tokens, or receipt-session tokens in learning packages.

Deletion and retention

Deleted Pantry items may remain as synchronization tombstones for up to 180 days to prevent an offline device from restoring them. Deleting your account removes active Firebase Authentication, synchronized Pantry and settings, account-linked feedback, learning source records, processing sessions, and local app, notification, and widget data. Limited records may remain temporarily in provider backups, security logs, or de-identified aggregates where they can no longer reasonably be connected to your account.

Service providers

Presova uses services provided by Firebase, OpenAI, Apple, and Google where appropriate for authentication, backend processing, diagnostics, text recognition, and related app functionality.
